Raw Atlantic power
West coast surf photos
Empty, wild and exposed.
South of El Cotillo the coast turns into cliffs, black rock and long empty beaches facing the open Atlantic. Fewer people, more swell, more adventure.
The spot
Beaches and reefs like Esquinzo, Los Molinos and La Pared catch every westerly swell. The landscape is huge: dark cliffs, red earth and a deep blue ocean. It makes for photos that don’t look like anywhere else.
When it works
When the North Shore is flat or blown out, the west coast often has waves. Easterly winds are offshore. Currents can be strong: this is a coast for confident surfers.
Shooting here
Wide shots that show the scale of the place, then tight action from the cliffs or the beach. A good choice for a road-trip day and a session that feels like a surf movie.
